I am 54 years old and had saliva test done 2 years ago and had low levels of progesterone and estrogen was getting lower.....and high DHT.....and I always head a head full of curly hair and 2 years ago my hair started thinning and I became saddened about that! Starting at 49 years old I was considered estrogen dominant...heavy irregular bleeding...awful.....periods have pretty much stopped with just an occasional day of spotting here or there...very far and few in between...waiting for the year of none....can progesterone cream help with my hair growth again? Should I use it daily? I don't like taking anything and like the natural way...but I sure would like my hair to be healthy again! I look forward to you opinion!

Barbara - yes, hair loss on the head is one of the symptoms of excess testosterone in women. This can happen to women even when a man uses testosterone gel and it rubs off on his woman! Testosterone can also have local effects, meaning that if it's used sublingually (under the tongue), it can encourage the growth of those pesky black hairs on the face. Many doctors are turning to the use of testosterone pellets that are implanted in the arm and last about three months, to avoid these kinds of effects. It's always wise to test testosterone levels before supplementing.
